Ashley Bentley, Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation, says she’s quite pleased with this year’s turnout.

“It’s going fantastic; we have 72 players playing today, so we have a full roster of players playing on the course today.”

Organizers entered today with a goal in mind to beat last year’s amount raised, which was approximately $9,000.

Every year, the Chances Charity Golf Tournament helps raise money for a specific Hospital Foundation campaign, and this year’s Lend a Hand Campaign will receive all the money raised to go towards various equipment needed at the Fort St. John Hospital.

Bentley also said how impressed she was with the support shown by the Peace Region Community.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to see all the players come out. A lot of these players come out every single year and a lot have their companies sponsor holes, which really helps with the total raised.”

Along with a day of golf, the fundraiser will also include a poker tournament, taking place at Chances Casino Saturday, September 15, beginning at 7 p.m.

The Texas Hold’em tournament will include 100 players, each paying $100 as a buy in fee. The tournament will distribute $2,000 worth of prizes

If it reaches its capacity for players, it will raise $8,000 for the hospital.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Chances Charity Golf Tournament, and over the past half-a-decade, it has raised $60,000 towards the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.
