Both Shaw and Tang crossed the finish line at 1:43:00, with Shaw narrowly earning the first place finish.

The race also resulted in a sprint finish for third place, where Nicky Haugan narrowly beat Barb Polehoykie, both finishing with a time of 1:44:53.

The event also featured a 30 km distance for racers, where another sprint to the finish line ensued. Heather McCracken held off Tate Haugan at the finish line to earn the top spot, each finishing with a time of 1:06:45. Sam Keats rounded out third place at 1:08:09.

Members of the Blizzard Bike Club were also racing in various events around the province over the weekend. Celeste Pakstas came first in her age class and earned 19 overall in the Olympic Distance Triathlon, raced in Banff. Pakstas finished the race with an impressive time of 2:38:26.

Rebecca Stevenson also raced in the Triathlon, finishing 19 in her age class with a time of 3:08:57. That time earned her 62 overall.

Blizzard Bike Club members will have a few days to regain their leg strength, before racing again Wednesday, September 12 in a mountain bike race.
