Clothier made seven birdies en route to his second consecutive club championship, six of which came on the first day, for an opening round score of 73.

Many of those birdies came as a result of some solid putting, which Clothier says was some of his best putting of the season.

He feels it was a key to his success throughout the weekend.

He also said that being able to bounce back from a bad hole was crucial in defending his title.

“I made a couple bogies, but followed those up with birdies. It was important for me to show I could battle back from a bad hole.”

On the ladies side of the competition, a new champion was crowned after Pam LeBeau shot a score of 183.

It was a battle until the final putt in the Junior Championship, as Blair Karasiuk narrowly defeated Alex Hartman, winning by a single stroke after shooting a 156.

Other flight winners in the championships included Debbie Gardiner and Jeanette Key in the ladies division, and Jacob Lang in the junior division.

Fellow winners in the men’s flights include Bud Palfy, Roger Unruh, Shane Nelson and Russ Wilkinson.
