Dreher has some experience on this specific course, having played it once before and liking what she saw. However, at the time the par 3’s were under construction, so there is still some scouting to be done on those holes.

She says the most challenging part of the weekend won’t be her long or short game, but will lie within her putter.

“The greens are going to be the biggest here this week because they are small, fast and extremely undulated. Keeping the ball below the hole will be a key factor in trying to eliminate three-putts and hopefully make some birdies.”

In preparing for the big weekend, Dreher says the focus has been on getting more consistency out of her driver, as the development of her short game has affected the quality of her drives. She claims that was her main focus in training for the competition, which has led her to feel quite comfortable with both aspects of her game.

The 72-hole tournament will run from Thursday, July 23 until Sunday, July 26, and will cut players following 36 holes of play.

The cut will reduce the field of 156 golfers, to the top 70 scores plus ties.

Dreher says that she only has one goal in mind entering this tournament, and it involves playing to the best of her abilities.

“My goals for the Open are pretty simple: I want to just go out there and play golf, only worry about one shot at a time and not get caught up in anything else out there. “

With golf being a game of mental strength, Dreher knows that keeping a strong head is important when trying to produce quality results on the course.

“I often put too much pressure on myself during a Canadian Open because I know mostly everyone out there is routing for me and I don’t want to disappoint anyone. I have come to the realization that no matter how I do, everyone is proud of me and if I just go out there and play golf and have fun everything should work out fine.”

The upcoming LPGA tournament could have a significant impact on the players’ bank accounts, as it includes a prize purse totalling $2 million.
