Give the Gift of Local News!

The program, aimed for young females ages 11-14, is led by volunteer female mentors, whose goal is to incorporate fun, educational activities designed to create a mentor/participant relationship, while also encouraging self-reflection through discussions on healthy living, emotional, social and cultural issues.

Each session provided through the program is structured around three key themes: active living, a balanced diet and the importance of self esteem.

The goal of the program is to develop an appreciation of the benefits provided through a healthy lifestyle.

The program also strives to provide participants with the tools and information necessary to maintain a healthy life, enhance competence, confidence and self-esteem and build leadership and life skills.

The program will begin Wednesday, August 15, running weekdays from 1 – 4 p.m. until Friday, August 24, held at the Pomeroy Sport Centre.

Best of all, the program is free of charge for anyone interested in participating.

However, organizers say there are only a limited amount of spots available, and registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Transportation, snacks and all supplies will also be provided.

Those interested can call 250-787-9674 to register.
