The new tiles to be installed will be made of recycled rubber tires, which will serve as floor cushions for the fitness area, and each tile can be printed with the name of a business or family.
NEAT will be installing the tiles under the fitness equipment to help alleviate stress on leg muscles, while also helping protect users from injury if they happen to slip or fall.
The rubber will be an improvement from the currently installed cement pads.
The City of Fort St. John is building the fitness park on the east side of Kin Park, located next to the walking trail and close to the BMX track, and expects to begin the installation process by September.
The tiles will be made from recycled rubber from Fort St. John, where over 50,000 car and truck tires are sent each year to be recycled.
NEAT is taking advantage of these materials to provide a safer and more attractive fitness park.
Residents or businesses interested in having their names associated with this project are encouraged to contact NEAT at 250-785-6328, or email email@example.com.
The four-foot square tiles are $250, while the two-foot squares are $150.
