“We’ve had an incident command team, helicopters, equipment, and most recently the fire commissioner deployed a structural protection unit to Fort Nelson.”
They are two of the four fires in the region all covering 18 hundred or more hectares and together more than 12 thousand.
Province-wide, the numbers have changed very little in the past 24 hours, with 670 fires covering 15,842 hecatres. The largest number of them, 217, is in the Prince George Fire Centre, and they still cover nearly 90 per cent of the provincial area, a total of 14,241 hecatres. Elsewhere in the province the most threatening fire on the shores of Okanagan Lake between West Kelowna and Vernon is diminishing and now covered only about 25 hecatres.
