The funding will go towards equipment for high traffic areas of the Dawson Creek Hospital, specifically the inpatient unit and operating rooms.

“We recognize that Dawson Creek and the South Peace Regional District has experienced significant population growth,” says Auger, “and the impacts as a result of the oil and gas industry and are happy to support initiatives that allow our neighbours to receive diagnosis and treatment in their home.”

Fort St. John’s investment will go towards the “Lend Your Hand” fund, which had a goal of raising $1.2 million for a digital mammography machine, seven kidney dialysis chairs, 55 vital signs monitors, and seven wireless fetal heart monitors. Executive Director of the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Ashley Bentley, says this donation has put them over their goal of $1.2 million raised by $80,000. Now that they’re over their goal, they’ll be looking at more equipment they can purchase for the hospital.

Shell’s new facility on the airport road brings together the two offices it had previously in the city.
