No information on the deceased has been given. As of now, the cause of the incident is unknown to authorities and police, along with traffic analysts, are on the scene attempting to determine the cause.

As a result of the investigation, highway traffic has been halted in both directions. Drivers traveling north from Prince George/ Mackenzie to Chetwynd or south from Dawson Creek / Fort St. John to Prince George can expect delays of up to several hours. Police will advise as to when the highway has re-opened for public travel, which Drive B.C. currently expects at 7:30 p.m.

Chetwynd RCMP ask anyone who witnessed anything in relation to this incident to please contact them at 250-788-9221. That includes the driver of a flatdeck crew truck RCMP believe may have been parked on the side of the highway near the collision.
