Currently in B.C., over 430 residents are waiting for transplants, with the majority waiting for a kidney.
Proceeds raised from the event will be used to provide education and support, increase public awareness of kidney health issues and organ donation, as well as ongoing research to provide improved treatment.
The event, starting at 11 a.m. in Fort St. John’s Centennial Park, will support the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s B.C. Branch, a non-profit, grassroots, volunteer-based organization which helps improve the lives of all people affected by kidney disease.
Registration for the event will take place the day of, beginning at 10 a.m.
Participants will have the option between two separate distances, either running 5 km, or walking 2.5 km.
If unable to attend, those interested in supporting to cause can also sponsor a participating runner.
