This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

The tour is designed to help raise awareness of our connection with the ocean, showcasing a variety of creatures to those who do not have direct access to the sea, while also increasing awareness of the need to protect and conserve aquatic life.

The AquaVan will offer those in attendance a unique opportunity to interact with a variety of live invertebrate animals, including sea urchins, sea anemones, crabs, sea snails and sea stars.

Dr. John Nightingale, President and CEO of the Vancouver Aquarium, says the AquaVan provides those in the north opportunities they may not be able to regularly experience.

“The debut of the Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan into the Northwest Territories is a significant and exciting milestone. This tour enables us to connect more Canadians to our natural world by providing engaging educational and public programs to communities that otherwise, may not have a chance to interact with live aquatic creatures.”

The tour will also be informing those in attendance regarding conversation of the earth’s major bodies of water, with topics ranging from how pollution reaches the ocean, to the unforeseen effect humans have on earth.

The tour will be making multiple stops in the Peace Region, first visiting Fort St. John Saturday, August 4, setting up in the Totem Mall parking lot.

Sunday, August 5, the AquaVan will be in Taylor, set up at the World Invitational Class “A” Gold Panning Championships, then will be in Dawson Creek Monday, August 6.

The exhibit will be open to all ages, and is free of charge to visit. For more information on the AquaVan, visit the campaign’s official website.
