Strait of Dover and jockey Justin Stein led from the start, and held on for the win. River Rush ducked in just out of the gate, settled well off the pace along the rail, and ended up getting shuffled back late in the backstretch. The duo began to gain on the turn, and made an attempt at the lead heading into the stretch of the third quarter, but was angled out, and was unable to threaten the lead.
42-year-old McAleney has been in the business since he was a teenager, and is only two career wins away from 2,250.
