The unemployment rate still remains low compared to May of 2011, when the rate was 5.1 per cent.
Northeast B.C. continues to lead the rest of the province with the lowest unemployment rate. Nanaimo and Victoria have an unemployment rate of 5.0 per cent, meanwhile the North Coast has the highest unemployment rate in the province at 11.6. The Provincial unemployment rate remained steady at 6.9.
Canada’s unemployment rate stayed the same in May at 7.3 per cent as only 7,700 jobs were created.
