Sandy McDonald was the race’s second place finisher, completing the time trial at 1:25:49, while Roger St. Jean came in third, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:27:33.
It was a busy weekend for Blizzard Bike Club members, as while some were in Fort St. John battling the wind, other members of the Club were in Chetwynd, battling a very steep Mount Baldy race, a four hour mountain bike race.
The race was a gruelling on the 31 riders involved, as it featured a Mount Baldy course consisting of twice as much climbing as descending in each of the laps.
Members of the local bike club made their mark at the Chetwynd event, as Gary Hilderman placed first, while Pat Ferris placed second. Both riders completed the 14 lap event in the four hour time limit.
When asked how his legs felt the following day, Pat Ferris used one word to describe their condition: “rubbery”.
The next event for the Bike Club will be the third Duathlon in the series of five, which will take place Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. The race will begin at the Baldonnel School.
