The local Fire Department and RCMP, as well as members of B.C. Hydro, all made their way to the scene and upon arriving, the fire on the pole had gone out and Hydro crews were able to repair the site.
The incident resulted in extensive power outages west of Chetwynd, which according to B.C. Hydro’s website, were restored at approximately 12:40 p.m.
Authorities would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to stay clear of any hydro poll fires or downed power lines, as it can result in a fatal injury in seconds.
