With the assistance of a mediator, the parties were able to reach a three year agreement, that will expire on December 31, 2014.
The deal includes a one per cent wage increase, retroactive to January 1, 2012, and a 2.25 per cent increase as of June 1, 2012. There is also Cost of Living Adjustment clause for years two and three, to protect against inflation if it goes beyond 3.5 per cent. The agreement also includes significant increases to dental and chiropractor/massage benefits, and improvements in allowances for glasses.
Further details about the contract and how many employees voted for/against the contract are not immediately available. We will update once we receive more information.
