“We looked into it and we didn’t find a valid threat,” says Cpl. Trevor Romanchych, “so it’s business as usual at the schools there and we just have an increased police presence.”
According to School District 81 Trustees, three students were alleged to have made threats of bringing weapons to school today. The RCMP interviewed the students in question and found they had no access to weapons. Those students are not at school today. They may face criminal charges and suspension.
As per police protocol, there are officers at the Secondary School today for security and peace of mind, and there is also an increased police presence at the other schools in the School District. All schools in the district are open.
