The camera is located close to the intersection of Mason Semple Road 237 and the John Hart Highway located near Mile-0 city.
Both of these routes have been designated by the Province as important for local residents and industry users in the South Peace area, with the web-cam being installed in this “prime location” for road users to receive the best information in advance for their travels.
Blair Lekstrom, Minister of transportation and Infrastructure says this tool is vital to the safety of Peace Region travelers.
“This new web-cam is important for motorists traveling through the Peace River region, with the high traffic volumes and often challenging weather conditions. It will let travelers get a real-time view of what’s happening on the roads and help them plan the safest trip possible.”
The newly installed camera is the second in Dawson Creek and the seventh on Highway 97 in B.C.’s Northern Region.
