The notice of motion came from Mayor Lori Ackerman, who would like staff to look into reducing traffic speed to 30 km/h at 93rd Avenue and 86 Street. Whether the reduced speed would be continued from the Robert Ogilvie Elementary School area just north would be considered in the report, as well as cost and traffic implications.

According to Councillor Larry Evans, this issue has been looked at before, but since it’s such a main road, council at that time didn’t want to bottleneck drivers.

A pedestrian crossing signal is already planned for introduction at the school this year, to deal with students crossing before and after school.
