Schools in many jurisdictions are closed and snow and winter storm warnings extend all the way from the north-central section of the province, including Prince George, to Vancouver Island, and much of southern B.C.
In addition to snow or freezing rain, all sections of the coast are bracing for powerful winds, that could range from 60 kilometres per hour over eastern Vancouver Island, to as high as 100 on the North Coast.
At YVR more than a dozen morning flights were at last report already cancelled and several more delayed. ir Canada appeared to be the hardest hit carrier and scubbed departures included flights to the northern part of the province.
Thus the best advice for local air travellers is to check in advance for cancellations or delays, on flights in or out of the storm area.
