Huskies to play back-to-back weekend games

Friday’s game against Sexsmith marks the fifth meeting between the two clubs this season, with Fort St. John entering the matchup yet to lose to the Vipers this season. During that four game span, the Huskies have outscored the Vipers 27-14. The Vipers currently sit in fifth place in the NWJHL, with a record of 7-21-0-1 with 15 points.

Saturday’s opponent is a completely different story. The Huskies have not yet defeated the Wolverines this year in the five times the teams have played one another. The Wolverines have also managed to score at least five goals on the Huskies in every meeting, outscoring the Huskies 31-13 in the five games played.

The Wolverines, who currently sit second in the North West Junior Hockey League, enter the weekend game with the Huskies boasting a record of 21-6-0-1, having accumulated 43 points.

The Huskies currently sit in fourth place in the league standings, entering the weekend with a record of 14-13-0-1 with 29 points.

After a brief hiatus from the top, Huskies forward Robbie Sidhu has reclaimed his spot as the NWJHL’s top scorer. Sidhu has put up impressive numbers this season, recording 66 points (24 Goals and 42 Assists) in just 25 games played. He is in a close scoring race with Grande Prairie JDA Kings’ Nolan Trudeau, who has 65 points (29 Goals 36 Assists) in 27 games played.

This weekend, the Huskies want to fill the North Peace Arena stands. As a promotion, any minor hockey player that attends wearing their hockey jersey will recieve free admission to the game.
