The Fort St. Fire Department got the call at 5:54 p.m., and found the front of the ’96 Buick completely engulfed in flames. Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, it began in the engine compartment and may potentially be related to the car’s age.
Fire Chief Fred Burrows says that in a spell of cold weather like this one, the department generally responds to 1 or 2 car fires. However, they are most commonly related to a block heater, and an outlet or extension cord, and there was nothing like that in this incidence.
