This year, the project will support the development of a new interactive, multi-functional and outdoor play space. The new play space is said to include a gazebo, a paved bike path, a state of the art play structure, as well as interactive outdoor activities such as a garden.

Last year, the local talent show donated over $75,000 to the CDC’s Project Build a Fort.

The show encourages anyone interested in showcasing their talent to sign up and perform, with the acts being asked to be family friendly and age appropriate. However, anyone can submit their potential idea for a performance and organizers will deem it appropriate or not.

The talent show, scheduled to take place Friday, March 2, will be held at the North Peace Cultural Centre, and will run from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Anyone looking to show off their talents is being asked to submit a $50 pledge, with participants being asked to hit the town in search of donations to help pay for those pledges.

Along with the March talent show, the month of February has been proclaimed CDC Month. Throughout the month, local businesses will have the opportunity to participate in helping raise money for the child development centre.

Local business can do so by holding specific promotions throughout the month, donating a portion of those promotions to the CDC.

The talent show is also in search of sponsors from local businesses, and those who make donations will have the option to take part in the talent show. An example of how such companies can take part would be in the form of a special guest MC or to introduce the act of their choice.

Organizers are also in search of volunteers for the evening festivities, which will include helping out with general jobs throughout the show, such as registering participants, supervising the kids involved with the show, and any other necessary jobs to help make the show run smoothly.

The event will also include a silent auction, with organizers looking to highlight local products, artists, musicians and restaurants.

Anyone interested in performing, sponsoring the event or CDC month, donating to the silent auction or have any questions, contact event coordinator Johanna Kunz at 250-719-6092 or email her at
