Throughout his life, Harrold was a continued supporter of Métis recognition and was also a well known entrepreneur.
A viewing for Harrold will be held at the Fort Nelson Friendship Centre, which is scheduled for friends and family Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 7-10:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Fort Nelson Recreation Centre.
The family has also arranged a meal to be shared with friends following the service. They are also attempting to arrange a live online service but this has yet to be confirmed. The B.C. Métis Federation will be providing the online link once the final details have been arranged.
Members throughout the B.C. Métis Federation are expressing their condolences, such as Federation President Keith Henry.
“I am so fortunate to have met Ray on several occasions. He was a proud Métis person and was a strong Métis business person. He always made me feel that Métis progress was important to him an hour Nation.”
The opinion seems to be shared with a variety of people within the B.C. Métis federation, as Cultural Ambassador Beverly Lambert says, “To me, the Métis people have lost a great warrior. If you wanted to make a difference in this world, I wish each of you could have walked a mile in Ray’s shoes. His home was always filled with youth who looked to him for guidance and support.”
Harrold was on dialysis for many years and was determined to provide people in the North a better facility. Therefore, people are being asked to donate to this cause by sending donations to the following address: Donations to the FSJ Hospital Foundation-Dialysis Clinic, 9636 100 Ave, Fort St. John, B.C., V1J 1Y3.
