Knights of Columbus lose in shootout

On Friday, Dec. 10, the Bantam boys kicked off their tournament against Dawson Creek, earning a win in their tournament opening game. Jarod Lang’s two goal, one assist performance earned him game MVP honours. Later that evening, the boys evened out their record to 1-1, suffering a loss to the Prince George Cougars. Joshua Robinson earned MVP in the losing effort.

Saturday was a better day for the Flyers, as the team won both games played. Fort St. John hit the ice in an early morning game against the Burns Lake Bruins to start their Saturday, defeating them by a score of 7-2. With the Flyers leading 3-2, Alex Hartman provided his Flyers with some breathing room, scoring three consecutive goals and giving the Flyers a 6-2 lead. Seth Hanna’s solid goaltending performance for the Flyers earned him the title of MVP.

Saturday evening, the Flyers kept their foot on the offensive gas pedal, as seven different goal scorers contributed to the team’s 7-4 victory over the Terrace MacCarthy Motors. Defensemen Austin Baxter’s performance earned him the title of game MVP.

On the morning of Sunday, Dec.11, the short-benched Flyers found themselves in a rematch with Terrace, playing in the tournament’s semi-finals. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first, the Flyers fought hard, evening the score at twos thanks to goals from Aiden Harris and Joshua Robinson. The remainder of regulation and overtime couldn’t determine a victor, so the teams took part in a shootout to see who would face Prince George in the finals. Five shooters were needed to conclude the shootout, which unfortunately, Terrace won by a single shot.

The Knights of Columbus Bantam Flyers will play in an All Peace Game in Dawson Creek Saturday, Dec.17, which will then be followed by a holiday break.
