Investigation into plane crash ongoing

Late Wednesday evening, a Cessna 185 went down near Flatrock, B.C. after losing communication with the Fort St. John Air Traffic Control Tower around 7:25 p.m. STARS Air Ambulance was called in from Grande Prairie and North Peace Search and Rescue along with the RCMP were mobilized to find the downed aircraft which was located near Cecil Lake.

The pilot and sole occupant of the crash perished in the crash. The Board isn't releasing the name of the pilot, but the aircraft was registered to Trek Aerial Surveys, an aerial surveillance and photography company.

The TSBC will also be looking to get data from Nav Canada to find out what the pilot was doing before he lost contact, as well as to get the weather conditions at the time of the crash.
