Hartigan tasted his first tournament action on Monday, Dec.26, when Team Canada took on and defeated HC Vitkovice by a score of 7-1.
Despite putting up 7 goals, Hartigan remained off the score sheet but did make into the penalty column, committing a holding infraction at the 39 second mark of the third period.
Team Canada also played today, Wednesday, Dec.28, suffering a one-sided 8-1 loss to host team HC Davos. Hartigan once again was kept off the score sheet.
After two preliminary games, Canada now finds itself in a do or die situation, as the tournament now switches to a one game elimination-style format.
Hartigan and his teammates representing the red and white will now play EHC Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams Thursday, Dec. 29 in a quarter-final match up.
The Spengler Cup is the oldest professional international hockey tournament in the world and has been held in the beautiful mountain town of Davos since 1923. The competition features five European club teams and a Canadian entry comprised largely of European-based pros.
