Through their hard work and generosity they have managed a ninth consecutive sellout this year of 2,400 bears in the LDB Christmas Twin Bear Charity Program, moving more than 800 of them in the last five days of the campaign at the end of last week.

We won’t get official confirmation until next week, but all indications are the local store will also post top provincial sales honors again, for the 9th straight year. Store Manager Warren Mears is happy with the turn out.

“We did good; we’ve got about 3,200 bears to donate out into the community. About 800 of that 2,400 was donated back, but I’d already given out about 1,600.”

For those not familiar with the annual program, for each bear sold by a store, the LDB gives one to a charity in that community, for Christmas season distribution to needy children. In addition, many of the purchased bears – as you heard, about 800 this year – are donated back to the store.

So that puts this year’s distribution total, for about half a dozen local charity groups, at about 3,200, and roughly half of them have already been given out.
