The RCMP will be calling in extra officers to help set up at many drunk driving check stops as possible, which according to local authorities, will not only be located on main streets, but also random side streets. This is to avoid the mentality that drunk drivers can take less frequently driven roads to avoid being pulled over.
Authorities would also like to remind the public that it is illegal to drive if your blood alcohol level is over .08. Driving over that limit will not only result in a 90 day suspension, but could result in criminal charges. RCMP also say that driving over a blood alcohol level .05 can result in a 24 hour suspension of one’s licence and the impounding of the vehicle.
