The annual celestial show is expected to run between December 12th and 16th, with peak times between midnight and dawn on the 13th and 14th.

However, Northern B.C. may get a chance later in the week to witness what NASA is calling the best meteor shower of the year, as the weather forecast is predicting a clearer and sunnier pattern over the next couple days.

The Geminid meteor shower takes place every year in mid-December, as the Earth passes through debris from an object called 3200 Phaetheon, which astronomers believe is a meteor or asteroid. It is known for its multi-coloured streaks and slower speeds, making them easier to see.
