With parking at a premium during the holiday season, drivers are more inclined to park in an accessible spot, often justifying that “it is just for a minute.”
Unfortunately, this means the spot is no longer available for someone with a disability who needs the space.
The idea behind the campaign is to focus on leaving these parking spaces available for those in need.
The Mayor’s Disability Advisory Committee would like to thank the community for making the first year of the campaign a success, and hopes to continue to raise awareness of this issue.
Please think before parking in designated parking spaces, even if “just for a minute.”
For more information on the campaign, please contact Lori Slater, Chair of the Mayor’s Disability Advisory Committee for 250-787-1912 or Slaterl@shaw.ca.
