Over 100 advanced skating tests will be taken this weekend, with skaters showing off their skills in a number of disciplines, including Dance, Skills, Free Skate and Interpretive. There are roughly six levels in each discipline, and these tests are used to determine if a skater is ready to progress to a more advanced level.
The skaters will be judged by an outside adjudicator, who will make the trip north from Nanaimo.
The students will take to the Taylor Ice Complex Friday for practice runs and testing will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. running until 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the skaters will begin at 8:30 a.m. with testing concluding at 11:30 a.m.
This will be the second testing event for the Peace Passage Skating Club this season.
