Fort Nelson to get its Fair Share

In the past, Fort Nelson was included in the Fair Share program with communities like Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. This new program has been developed to help fund infrastructure needs in Fort Nelson as it deals with the growth of the Shale Gas industry.

In the letter MLA Pat Pimm said “this hard work is a commitment by the province to expand Fort Nelson and the NRRM as the key service centre for shale Gas development in the Province. In the coming months, I will continue to meet with our municipal and provincial leaders to further the process by which community infrastructure and services will be upgraded”.

Each year communities in the Peace receive funding from the Province to support economic development and address infrastructure priorities in B.C.’s Northeast.

In 2011 the Province provided $32.2 million dollars to the communities of Chetwynd, Hudson’s Hope, Taylor, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Pouce Coupe.
