Cultural Centre to host acclaimed musician

Cuba’s resume is impressive, having won two Juno Awards for World Music Album of the Year. He also co-wrote and recorded on an album with Nelly Furtado, which went straight to #1.

On Nov.11, 2010, he accepted a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist and was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Latin Pop Album category.

Cuba is a Cuban-born musician based out of Canada, who, according to critics, creates songs that "cut through linguistic and cultural barriers like a machete through sugarcane."

His shows have been described as explosive, where the audience comes alive through the strength and beauty of his music. His vocals have been labelled as sexy, his guitar funky, with both elements combining for an energetic and vivid musical experience.

He is currently Canada’s largest Cuban music star, combining elements of funk, jazz, rock and pop to showcase his heritage.

Tickets cost $40 for adults, $35 for seniors/youth and $25 for anyone 12 years of age or younger.

The Cultural Centre will be holding a cocktail/café service beginning at 6:30 p.m., with doors to the show opening at 7 p.m. and Alex Cuba hitting the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the box office, by phone at (250) 785-1992 or online.

For more information, please contact the North Peace Cultural Centre at 250-785-1992.

Those in attendance are also being challenged to have a little extra fun, as a prize will be given out for the person in attendance with the "best afro."
