Morrison finished the 1500 metre event with silver medal around his neck, finishing the race with a time of 1:45.80.

He crossed the finish line 0.11 seconds behind gold medal winner Wouter Olde Heuvel of the Netherlands.

The speed skater expressed his pleasure with the second place finish, saying “like anything, you always want better than you get in speed skating. You’re always trying to improve. I’m still happy with the second place. Overall, pretty good race, nice and smooth.”

Morrison’s second place finish improved Canada’s medal total to five in the World Cup season with two gold, two silver and a bronze.
