This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

Local employees with the Calgary-based oil and gas producer raised $200 through an internal fundraising campaign, and the company matched that amount for a total contribution of $400. On Thursday, a cheque was presented to Arden Smith, department manager for family safety, counselling and support services with the South Peace Community Resources Society (SPCRS), which administers the Mizpah Transition House.

Smith said the money will go towards purchasing small necessities identified by the women and children who are staying at the transition home, such as pyjamas and toothbrushes.

The Mizpah Transition House provides short-term supportive counselling, safety, and shelter to women and their children who are experiencing family violence and personal crisis, are transient and unable to find shelter, are traveling from other areas for medical treatment or to appear in court, and/or are in need of support and referral to other services. The facility is located in a community house and provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information on the service can be obtained by calling SPCRS at 250-782-9174.
