The Dawson Creek Rage and Alaska Avalanche met for the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night. The visiting Dawson Creek Rage was looking to build on their improved play over the week. The Rage did just that as Tyson McCallum made it 1-0 just over a minute into the first period. As the frame was coming to an end a few home ice bounces allowed Alaska to score back too back shorthanded goals. The score was 2-1 after 20.
The second period started with Dawson Creek working to get chances and build on their previous period. It didn’t take long for Jason Wark to tie the game at 2 and give his team some momentum. The game continued up and down and ice as it had been all night. The Av’s would score to make it 3-2 late in the second. Dawson Creek then pushed back with captain Scott Fellnermayr making it a 3-3 hockey game with a slap shot down the wing.
The third period was underway with both teams getting opportunities early. Eventually Alaska would be awarded a power play and much like they have before were able to capitalize making it 4-3. The Rage fought back till the end but the score would remain 4-3 for the Avalanche.
The Rage will now head to Fairbanks for two games this weekend.
