The teams met in the Energetic City to compete in the 2011 High School Zone Playoffs, with the winner getting the opportunity to compete for a provincial championship.

The Quad A NPSS girls, also known as the Ooks, stood face to face with the girls of Prince George Secondary School, with the winner booking a trip to the Provincial championships.

In a strong team effort, the Ooks defeated Prince George 3-1 in sets in a match that lasted close to two hours.

The NPSS boys, who also go by the Ocsars, also took the court Saturday in a final match-up against the boys from Kelly Roads Secondary School. Much like the girls, the boys also won 3-1 in sets.

It was an exciting weekend in the North Peace Secondary gymnasium, as the hometown fans watched both the boys and the girls secure spots in the provincial championships.

The Ooks and the Oscars will travel south to Vancouver in two weeks, to compete in the Provincial Volleyball Championships.
