Around the Energetic City, a number of fuelling stations are rationing their diesel due to the limited amount they have been receiving. UFA Petroleum says they have no diesel as of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, but more will be delivered over night, with pumps being opened tomorrow for card holders only from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Co-op Petroleum says they have some diesel, but it is only available for regular card holding customers, and with a small limit of 300 litres per day.
The Husky Oil Bulk Plant is in a similar situation, as they too are controlling the amount of diesel sold. They are only selling to regular, carded customers and are unable to fill large orders for anyone without a card. If a customer is interested in acquiring gas, they will only be allowed a limited amount. An employee at the Husky said that more diesel is on its way from Alaska.
Petro Canada is also only offering limited quantities for the time being, as they are only allowed to sell 200 litres per day.
The current diesel shortage within western B.C. is due to a shortage of hydrogen sulphide that has affected the ability of a major Suncor refinery to produce diesel. Suncor says the supply problem should be resolved around Nov. 17.
