On Friday, Nov.4, the Peace River Royals made their way to Fort St. John, leaving the Energetic City with a 4-4 tie under their belts. With the Flyers trailing the Royals 2-1 entering the third, a strong final frame performance from Logan Daneluk, who scored twice and added an assist, helped the Flyers earn the 4-4 final.
Daimon Derouin made 30 saves for the Flyers to earn the tie.
Finishing their first game in a tie seemed to spark the Tracker Flyers for their Saturday game against Fort McMurray. Despite allowing a goal only 21 seconds into the game, the tilt was dominated by the Tracker Flyers, who sent the Barons packing with a 14-1 loss to think about.
With the Flyers down by a goal early in the game, Logan Daneluk scored back-to-back goals in the first, with his second being the eventual game winner. Daneluk would finish the game with a two goal, three assist performance.
Jordan Harder, Jade McMullen and Mark Readman also posted impressive numbers in the one-sided victory, each recording a hat-trick and one assist. Multiple Tracker Flyers also finished the game with multi-point performances. McMullen is the current league leader in points, with an impressive tally of 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in just nine games played.
Michael Chute made 23 saves in the lop-sided win.
With the weekend results, the Tracker Flyers currently occupy second in the NAMHL’s Black Division standings. In first stands the Peace River Royals, who only lead the Tracker Flyers by two points. In third is the Grande Prairie Strike Energy Storm, who trail by only a single points.
After playing host this past weekend, the Tracker Flyers will hit the road this Saturday, as they travel to Peace River for a rematch with the Royals. Sunday, they will once again play in unfriendly waters, traveling to Grande Prairie for some afternoon hockey against the Strike Energy Storm.
These are two important games with regards to the standings, and a win in both could see the Tracker Flyers jump into first in their division.
