Throughout the month, residents will receive invitations in the mail to donate money. Donations can be dropped off at North Peace Savings and Credit Union, Royal Bank, BMO, TD, CIBC and Scotia Bank. If anyone interested did not receive a notification in the mail, they are also available at the above locations.
The month-long fundraising campaign has been designed as an ongoing process to help raise money for a digital mammography machine, seven wireless fetal heart monitors, 55 vital machines and seven treatment chairs for the new dialysis centre.
The total cost of equipment is approximately 1.2 million dollars.
The fundraiser already kicked started the campaign with a Gala, held on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Pomeroy Hotel. The festivities included dinner, as well as a live and silent auction. Through generous donations, the event already raised $67,000 towards the cause.
Organizers were thrilled with this number, as last year, the Gala raised $50,000.
The conclusion of the month long fundraiser will take place on Dec. 1, with the Light a Moose Radio-Thon, taking place at 6 p.m. in front of the current hospital. The event will showcase the lighting of the Christmas tree, and will include cookies and hot chocolate for those in attendance.
To date, the Hospital Foundation has raised $648,000 towards its goals of $1.2 million. The foundation is hoping that all that money is raised by summer of 2012, when the new hospital is expected to open its doors.
