Head on collision closes West Bypass Road

At approximately 12:10 a.m. Fort St. John RCMP, Fire and Rescue and B.C. Ambulance Service responded to a report of a head on collision on the West Bypass Road near Nurnberger Subdivision.

The collision involved two vehicles, a small car and a half tonne pickup truck, each occupied by single male drivers.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a west bound car had crossed the centre line, which resulted in a head on collision with the east bound pickup truck.

Both males were taken to the Fort St. John Hospital, one in critical condition and the other with serious injuries.

Police have not yet ruled out speed and alcohol as factors and the investigation is still ongoing.

It is unknown when the road will be reopened.

The RCMP is requesting that anyone who has any information regarding this incident please call the local detachment at 250-787-8100.
