Fort St. John to "Take Back the Night" for women's safety

The group will meet at 8:00 p.m. at the North Peace Cultural Centre and will march together downtown.

"Take Back the Night" is an international event that was started in Philadelphia in 1975 with the hopes of promoting women's safety. The event takes place at night as this is when women often don't feel safe walking alone. Event organizer Emily Goodman says this is especially a problem in Fort St. John.

Although similar events in other cities are women only, men are invited and encouraged to attend.

Members of the community are also invited to attend the Women's Resource Society's AGM starting at 6:00 p.m. at the NPCC. The society is looking for new board members, and there will be door prizes given out.
