UPDATE #4 – The Alaska Highway is now open in both directions at the Kiskatinaw Bridge.

UPDATE #3 – The Alaska Highway is still closed at the Kiskatinaw Bride. The latest update is the road will open by 4pm this afternoon. We expect another update at approximately 3pm this afternoon.

UPDATE #2 – The RCMP believe the road should be open by 12 p.m. today.

UPDATE – One person has been seriously injured after a collision near the Kiskatinaw Bridge on Highway 97 North.

The Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at approximately 5:40 a.m. Friday involving two vehicles, a truck and a car.

A male from the car was sent to the Dawson Creek Hospital with serious injuries. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

As of 8 a.m., the RCMP believe the highway will be closed for three or more hours as the investigation continues.

Heavy truck traffic is being routed down the Braden Road and light traffic can use the Old Alaska Highway.

The Alaska Highway is closed at the Kiskatinaw Bridge after a collision Friday morning.

We have very little information about the collision but we do know the highway is closed at the Kiskatinaw Bridge.  Light traffic can use the old Alaska Highway to detour around the area, while heavy traffic should use the Braden Road.
