B.C.’s top pros and amateurs have all gathered in Charlie Lake in order to compete.

Taking place at Charlie Lake’s Lakepoint Golf and Country Club from August 9-10 is the Petron Communications Charity Pro-Am.

The golf tournament will feature 28 professionals and 112 amateurs from all across the province. The pros will be competing for a $20,000 purse, while the amateurs will play for a variety of prizes.

The tournament will be featuring some local golfers, some of which include Lakepoint’s Ryan Harvey, Ryan Vaughan, Owen McCarthy and Troy Knight. The tournament will also feature Dave Callum and Larry Ramstad of Taylor.

The tournament is being played in a unique style, where pros will play individually and results are based purely on their scores. Amateurs on the other hand, will all play on teams with the pros, in what’s called a Team Net Stableford, a style that assigns point values to a golfer’s score per hole.

The tournament officially begins Tuesday morning, with golfers taking to the course at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday the players will start their day at 8 a.m., with prize presentations taking place at 3 p.m.
