In the early morning hours of July 3rd, Mackenzie RCMP Members were called for an assault in the small community of McLeod Lake, 30 minutes south of Mackenzie. Upon attending, members met a female subject who alleged she had been assaulted by a local man.
Members attended the residence of the 56 yr old man and located him on his front porch. It appeared as though the man had been severely beaten and was suffering from serious injuries. Investigators also located what they believe is a weapon associated to the assault.
BC Ambulance Services were contacted and transported the injured man to the local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have arrested a 42 year old female subject in relation to the murder of the man. There is no known association between the victim and the suspect before this incident.
The Mackenzie RCMP Detachment is investigating the incident with the assistance of the “E” Division Serious Crimes Unit and the North District Major Crime Unit. Names of the victim and the suspect are not being released at this time.
