Precautions have been taken after a bear sighting near Fort St. John.

On the evening of Sunday, July 24, reports were made of a bear wandering in the Mountain View subdivision Northwest of Fort St. John.

Conservation officers can confirm that tracks of the bear were found in mud and have set a culvert trap as a precautionary measure.

There have been no reports of the bear getting into garbage in the area, nor has it come in contact with any people.

Conservation officers are also saying the bear has only been active in the evenings and will provide further updates when they are available.
