If you’re along the Alaska Highway over the weekend, you may come across a different type of Alaska Highway tourist on the side of the road… A eccentric free spirt we’re not used to seeing doing the trek.

A member of the team ran into a man identifying himself as  “Banal”, who is originally from Victoria, just north of Wonowon about 120 KM north of Fort St. John on Saturday morning.

Banal started a walking trek with his pull-behind human caravan and free-spirited decorations from Whitehorse on June 19th, and is heading to the Lower Mainland along the Highway.

When asked why he’s doing the trek, Banal responded, “I’m doing it for myself, just because”. Expect to see him through the Peace Region over the coming days.
