UPDATE:  The Rose Prairie Road has been reopened.

Two people have died after a collision at the Rose Prairie Road and the West Bypass Road.

The Fort St. John RCMP were called to the scene of the collision at approximately 5:30 p.m. The RCMP believe a southbound vehicle carrying three people turned left off the Rose Prairie Road onto the Jones Subdivision road and was hit by a northbound motorcycle. An elderly female passenger in the vehicle was killed instantly in the collision as was the 25 year-old male motorcycle driver.

At this time the Rose Prairie Road remains closed and should re-open at approximately 12:00 a.m., Wednesday.

The RCMP are asking that anyone who was in the area of the collision and may have witnessed the collision or who witnessed the blue motorcycle on the Rose Prairie Road, should contact the RCMP at 250-787-8140.

The names of the deceased are not being released pending notification of next of kin.
