BC Stats has confirmed, that the local area jobless rate fell more than a full percentage point last month to 4 percent from 5.1 in May.

Thus the Northeast Region rate is now just slightly more than half of a reduced provincial rate, which went from 7.6 t0 7.3 percent.

The local rate is also better than any provincial rate in the country, with Saskatchewan topping that list at 4.9 percent.

The main area of concern in BC continues to be the North Coast/Nechako, where the rate is 11.9 percent.

That’s higher than all the provincial rates in the country, except NewFoundland/Labrador and Prince Edward Island…which both jumped from 11.9…to 12.3 and 12 percent respectively.
